[UPDATED: TUESDAY 4/17/12 @ 7:51 AM ET]

There is a “Slight” Risk for Severe Thunderstorms today across most of North & Central Gerogia, except for extream northwest GA.

{MAIN THREATS}
30% CHANCE OF: DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH
30% CHANCE OF: ISOLATED FLOODED AREAS/STREETS/ROADS
20% CHANCE OF: LARGE HAIL GOLFBALL SIZE OR LARGER
LESS THAN A 20% CHANCE OF AN ISOLATED TORNADO

{TIMING}
The best chance for the strongest weather will be between 2pm and 11pm et anywhere across the North and Central Georgia area during the hottest parts of the day and lingering into the evening hours

{IMPACTS}
A cold front was moving into Northwest Georgia this morning. This will slowly move across North Georgia this afternoon and stall out. This will be the focus for isolated thunderstorms over the next 7 days except for Thursday. In the meantime, this afternoon during the hottest part of the day, isolated thunderstorms could develop and a few storms could be Severe. I am NOT expecting a major tornado outbreak or even a major severe weather outbreak today in Georgia. However, a FEW of the storms that develop today across the area could pack a punch. The main concern today will be the damaging winds. Some wind gust could be as high as 60 to 70 mph! That would be enough to blow down trees and powerlines, distroy a mobile home, or slightly damage the roof system of homes. There is also a risk of some isolated Flooded roads if you get up under one of the heaviest storms.
