[SUMMARY]

There is a chance for some significant Severe Weather across the Southeast US as we go through the next 48 to 72 hours including the Atlanta Metro area. There is a “Slight Risk” for Severe Thunderstorms across North and West Central GA Thursday night into Friday. These areas may change further east as we go into Friday but right now are north and west of a line from Carrollton to Atlanta to Taccoa or west of I-85. There is a “Moderate Risk” for Dade and Walker counties in extream Northwest GA.

Most of Alabama, potions of Mississippi and Tennessee are also under a “Moderate Risk” for Severe Thunderstorms. In this area, there is a greater chance for TORNADOES as we go from Thursday night into Friday morning. Stay alert in this area for new forecast updates from your local media and weather service office’s and here on Channel 1 Atlanta.

A strong cold front will move out of the plains states and into and across the southeast next 48 hours. Temps will be in the 90s again the the Atlanta area today, but only 77 by Friday and Saturday. In between the clash of the air masses there will be Severe Thunderstorms according to the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK.
