[UPDATED: SUNDAY JUNE 10TH 2012 @ 1:15 AM ET]
Some good rains will continue across much of Georgia now into Tuesday. The latest computer models indicate an upper level system moving in from the gulf of mexico will continue to slowly move into and across the southeast next several days.
The system could bring anywhere from 2 to 5 inches of rain across Georgia over the next 48 hours. Models indicate that North and Eastern Georgia, including the Atlanta area, could get 4 to 5 inches. We really need the rain. Although we’ve had some rain as of late, it is still very dry.
We will watch for the possibility of flooding, but it has been so dry, we would actually would have to get 4 – 6 inches of rain to begin such an event.
Portions of Northern Florida recieved 14 inches of rain out of this system on Saturday. This system tropical in nature but is not an tropical storm.
As far as any Severe Weather is concerned. Chances look low at this time, i think this will be mostly a rain event with some thunder at times. There is a chance of Severe along the gulf coast and we will watch that on Sunday as it moves north. Can’t rule out some strong storms Sunday across South and West Georgia.
Stay with us as always for any watch’s and or warnings.
